Board of Education Goals

2012-2013

Mission Statement: The Dodgeland School District will provide each student the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to realize his or her potential to lead a fulfilling and productive life.

The Dodgeland Board of Education will actively support the District goals of increasing student learning and student engagement by:

  1. Focusing discussion at board meetings on student achievement and student engagement.  It is an expectation that each regular board meeting agenda include opportunities to partake in dialogue about the initiatives related to these goals.  Such initiatives include: Response to Intervention (RtI), Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) at the Middle School and High School level, Build Your Own Curriculum (BYOC) district-wide, as well as Professional Learning Communities (PLC) district-wide.
  1. The Board of Education will solicit and use data to inform their decisions related to these initiatives.
  1. The Board of Education will demonstrate steadfast support of the initiatives that will further student learning and student engagement.  Such support includes providing relevant staff development resources in order that measurable growth can be realized.  Specific and measurable goals include:
  1. The Board of Education expects all students to perform at Proficient or Advanced levels on district summative assessments.  To achieve this goal, there will be a 3% increase in the number of students moving from Basic or Minimal to at least Proficient on the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination at all grade levels and in all tested subjects.
  1. Additionally, the Board of Education expects that the 2012 Composite ACT score will be equal to or greater than the state average ACT score.
  1. There will be a significant reduction in the number of 6th to 12th grade students on the D/F list.  The Board of Education expects at least 75% of all students to achieve a “C” or higher in all coursework.
  1. The number of elementary students receiving Tier II and Tier III academic interventions will be monitored and annually reported.  Tiered interventions are based on the Response to Intervention initiative at the Elementary School.  Tier I represents the universal curriculum in which all students participate.
  1. Middle School and High School discipline referrals will be diminished by 50%.
  1. As the Dodgeland School District continues its journey to becoming a school of excellence, the Board of Education will proactively seek a positive working relationship with the Dodgeland staff.
