Demographics

Dodgeland is a Pre-K-12 School District that has drawn together the communities of Clyman, Juneau, Lowell and Reeseville by passing a referendum to provide one state-of-the-art building for all students.

The location of this attractive school is just south of Juneau, the county seat for Dodge County.  Residents of Dodgeland have easy and quick access to Wisconsin's largest cities and universities, yet enjoy a quiet, rural quality of life because of the many impressive features and the natural terrain of central Wisconsin.

Dodgeland will now virtually guarantee that all students will read well by 3rd grade (the results of the 3rd grade reading test have long been impressive at Dodgeland).  Although the elementary, middle, and high school sections are completely separate in the new school (complete with separate entrances), the educational program will have much greater continuity from level to level.

The Dodgeland Ladder of Literacy begins very early by starting kindergarten students into the important beginnings of reading and writing, including phonics and word play, so that kindergarten students are very much at ease with and proud of their many "stories".

Students who may falter in first grade are quickly brought up to level through Reading Recovery - an intensive, very effective one-on-one reading intervention with upwards of 90% success rate.  Referrals for special education have been reduced significantly since Dodgeland introduced Reading Recovery three years ago.  Title I programming is integrated into the SAGE (Student Achievement Guarantee in Education) program through third grade, for which there is a maximum 15-1 student-teacher ratio.

Precocious fourth grade math students will be stimulated by having access to the high school math teachers (and students).  Elementary students will be eager to watch the growth of plants in the full-sized greenhouse.  All students will profit from having access to the vocationally-oriented, 17-module middle school technology educational program, and the fully-equipped print shop suitable for apprenticeships.

The long-standing competence of the Dodgeland instructional staff has been enhanced by the addition of more than twenty new teachers over the last three years.  This has created a stimulating, focused environment for learning supported by dedicated and enthusiastic secretaries, custodians, food service workers and educational assistants throughout the school.

Dodgeland's Ladder of Literacy is expanded and broadened throughout the spectrum of programs represented in part by the following:

  • Significant investment in technology (both Macintosh and P.C.)
