Co-Curricular Code Philosophy: The Dodgeland School District co-curricular programs are considered an extension of the academic offerings and a beneficial contribution to the development of the students' mental, physical, and social growth. Students are encouraged to participate provided that involvement does not interfere with scholastic achievement, that students recognize participation is a privilege with accompanying responsibilities.
Dodgeland offers a variety of different clubs and groups for Middle and High School students. Some groups involve competition against other schools, such as Forensics and Robotics, while other groups are centered around involvement in the school or community, such as NHS and Student Council. Active clubs and groups at the Dodgeland Middle School include: Academic Pentathlon, FFA, Forensics, Robotics, and Trap Shooting. Active clubs and groups at the Dodgeland High School include: Academic Decathlon, FBLA, FFA, Forensics, German Club, Mock Trial, National Honor Society (NHS), Skills USA, Spanish Club, Student Council, Robotics, and Trap Shooting.
Please reach out to the advisor of a club or group for additional information and how to join.
All clubs and groups coordinated through the school are subject to the Dodgeland Middle/High School Code of Conduct, which may be found on our Handbooks page.
A daily late bus is provided by the district to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in school based athletics and other after school co-curricular activities. Students must sign up each day to ride the late bus that departs from the middle/high school entrance at 5:10 pm daily. The following reminder and link is provided in our daily student announcements:
The late bus is available to students that have an after school supervised event or activity with a teacher, coach or advisor. Students must sign up daily by 12:00 to be permitted onto the bus. Sign up is done via the Dodgeland Late Bus Google Form.
All students participating in Co-Curricular Activities must submit a Co-Curricular Emergency Medical Information Form, which includes parent emergency contact information, family doctor information, and current medication(s) taken by the student. This form may be found under our Co-Curricular Forms page.
Academic Pentathlon / Decathlon - MS, HS
Who studies for fun, you may ask? The answer? Many Dodgeland students! To be specific, the Dodgeland Academic Decathlon and Pentathlon teams! The Academic Decathlon is an academic competition that involves students in grades 9 through 12 with various levels of achievement in academics. The teams consist of A, B, C, and even D students who all contribute to studying the theme of the year and compete in local, regional, and (hopefully!) state competitions.
The theme, which changes each year, is looked at through seven content areas: social science, art, mathematics, science, music, economics, and literature. At the local level, students take tests on each of the seven subjects. Their scores determine whether the team progresses to regionals, where students test again on the same subjects and add three more categories: writing an essay, giving a prepared and impromptu speech, and conducting an interview with a judge. The topic for 2021 is Water: A Most Essential Resource.
Dodgeland Academic Decathlon teams have made it to state 6 out of the 10 years that it has been in existence, with a streak of 4 in a row right now. Hopefully, this year will make it five! The 2021 team competed well at local competition, where several team members placed in various categories. The team heads to regional competition on January 6 and 7 with the hopes of performing well enough to represent the school at State in February.
The Academic Pentathlon is a middle school competition that is a precursor to the high school Decathlon. The students study the same theme as the Decathlon team, but they study five subjects instead of seven.

Mock Trial - HS
Mock trial is a competitive speech activity open to all high school grade levels (9-12). Imagine a fusion of debate, forensics, and play acting, all set inside of a courtroom. Students play the roles of either an attorney or a witness and argue a court case against opposing teams in front of real life attorneys and judges. A mock trial team consists of 6-12 students. The season runs from late October-mid February (mid March if we make state). Arguing, acting, and objecting are encouraged!

Tesla Trojans Robotics Club - Grades 6-12
Hello! We are the Dodgeland High School Robotics team—The Tesla Trojans!
Each season, we build and program a robot to perform specific tasks based on the challenge presented—completing these tasks allows us to score points during a competition. Typically, these tasks involve moving the robot around a 12X12 foot playing field while also moving, stacking, or launching blocks of some sort. Each year, the robot that is assembled has to be smaller than 18 inches x18inches x 18 inches. Some years there has also been a maximum weight limit.
We are a First Tech Challenge (FTC) team. This means we follow the FIRST philosophies of Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition, which is cooperating and assisting other teams during competition. We also strive to follow these Core Values:
-
Discovery: Exploring new skills and ideas
-
Innovation: Creative problem solving
-
Impact: Applying our knowledge to improve our world
-
Inclusion: Respecting each other’s ideas and differences
-
Teamwork: Working together to solve problems
-
Fun: Celebrating our achievements
Worldwide, there are thousands of teams in the FTC that compete against each other in a series of competitions. Each year, our team is made up of students in grades 7 through 12 along with 2 coaches or mentors. Our main competitions are held December through February.
We are always looking for new team members and sponsors to help provide creative ways to solve the yearly challenge or to provide funding for our team so we can purchase parts to aid in building a robot. If you are interested in seeing a demonstration of this year’s robot or in supporting our team, please email us.
Thank You!
