COVID Update
Licensed Athletic Training (LAT) school services were suspended in mid October due to the COVID pandemic and medical staff shortages experienced by the Marshfield Clinic in Beaver Dam. All coaches and Athletic Director Marcia K. Modaff are collectively helping athletes when injuries occur. Athletes and their parents are referred to see their family health care provider during the absence of LAT services.
Dodgeland School District partners with Marshfield Clinic - Beaver Dam to provide our WIAA student-athletes continuous sports medicine expertise during the off-season and throughout the year.
This sports medicine staff provides athletic training (diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation) for all injuries to help our student-athletes heal, paired with strength and conditioning coaching to help them to excel. These highly specialized experts deliver comprehensive, continuous care with a personal understanding of the needs of high school student-athletes. Information about training services offered by Marshfield Clinic can be found on the Marshfield Clinic web page.

Great information about identifying and treating acute sports injuries can be found on Children's Health web page.
RICE is often the best first line of treatment for minor acute sports injuries:
- Rest the injury
- Ice the injury once every hour for 20 minutes
- Compress the injury by wrapping it with an ace bandage or immobilize with a splint
- Elevate the injury above the heart to decrease blood flow and reduce swelling
Heat should not be used for any acute injury. ICE or a slush bath is the best treatment to reduce swelling.
Information regarding concussions can be found in the Wisconsin Fact Sheet for Parents and Wisconsin Fact Sheet for Athletes.
