Say goodbye to the mezzanine! To make ready for the new HS Collaboration space, crews have completed the demolition of the precast mezzanine, along with the masonry walls. Next key item on the demolition list is the opening to the HS Collaboration space from the existing hallway, which will be in the wall on the left side of the picture.
In preparation for the new addition and associated fire wall, the existing exterior windows and entrances are being permanently in-filled with masonry. As the existing openings are filled in, crews will proceed to cut the new opening into the STEAM Addition on the exterior façade of the building.
Now that the mezzanine demolition is complete, crews can officially start clearing and digging foundations for the addition! In this photo, our earthwork contractor has begun to clear off the topsoil and existing asphalt. Then they will proceed to dig the STEAM Addition footings and foundation wall lines.
The Secure Entrance work is progressing smoothly and on track. The masonry has been painted and frames, doors, and hardware are being installed. By the end of next week, 4/30/2021, the temporary carpet will be installed, the ceiling will be put back into place, and this area will be turned back over to the district for operational use!
